Ammonium recovery from municipal wastewater by ion exchange: Development and application of a procedure for sorbent selection

چکیده
Ion exchange represents one of the most promising processes for ammonium recovery from municipal wastewater (MWW). However, previous studies on ion did not optimize process or evaluate its robustness under real operational conditions. This experimental study aimed at (i) developing a procedure selection sorbent selective removal/recovery MWW, (ii) validating by applying it to several sorbents, (iii) performing preliminary optimization and assessment with selected sorbent. The application natural synthetic zeolites cation resin confirmed that batch isotherm tests need be integrated continuous-flow tests. sorbent, mixture Chabazite Phillipsite, resulted in high performances terms capacity (33 mgN gdry resin−1), operating (5.2 yield (78–91%) selectivity towards ammonium. stable during 7 adsorption/desorption cycles conducted MWW treatment plant effluents 60-cm column. switch highly saline effluent produced hotspot seawater intrusion determine significant changes performances. Contact time was reduced 6 min without any decrease Potassium – well tolerated crops as regenerating agent, perspective produce desorbed product re-used fertilizer. shows Chabazite/Phillipsite has recover circular economy approach.

Removal of ammonium ions from wastewater: A short review in development of efficient methods
Ammonium ions wastewater pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems today. The treatment of ammonium ions is a special concern due to their recalcitrance and persistence in the environment. In recent years, various methods for ammonium ion removal from wastewater have been extensively studied. This paper reviews the current methods that have been used to treat ammonium ...
متن کاملPhosphate Recovery from Municipal Wastewater through Crystallization of Calcium Phosphate
Phosphate concentrations in municipal and agricultural wastewaters continuously increase because of the growing use of detergents and fertilizers. Thus, it seems that phosphate recovery from wastewater as calcium phosphate would be attractive due to the vast applications of calcium phosphate in industry. In the current experimental study, the phosphate recovery by addition of calcium chloride t...
متن کاملDevelopment and Validation of an Ion Chromatography Method for Quantification of Ammonium Ions in STEALTH® Liposomes
Ammonium sulfate is one of the subsidiary components in the stealth liposome structure. The ratio of ammonium ion bound to liposome sphere to ammonium ions outside the liposome plays an important role in drug delivery formulation; accordingly, in order to quantify the ammonium ion in the liposome structure, a rapid and sensitive method was validated using a conductivity detector. Through this m...
متن کاملModeling assessment for ammonium nitrogen recovery from wastewater by chemical precipitation.
Chemical precipitation to form magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) is an effective technology for recovering ammonium nitrogen (NH4(+)-N). In the present research, we investigated the thermodynamic modeling of the PHREEQC program for NH4(+)-N recovery to evaluate the effect of reaction factors on MAP precipitation. The case study of NH4(+)-N recovery from coking wastewater was conducted to provi...
متن کاملPorous Alumosilicate Aggregate as Lead Ion Sorbent in Wastewater Treatments
Porous alumosilicate aggregate, namely perlite, was used as an alternative material in wastewater treatments for the selective removal of ionic pollutants such as lead which is present in industrial wastewaters and toxic at relatively low concentrations. Metal retention was investigated by single metals and multispecies equilibrium isotherms (batch system) and by carrying out dynamic (column) e...
